Watching Joe Sleep On The Plane
There is something so seemingly intimate about watching someone sleep. The curiosity of the possible dream that is conquering their inner spirit and mind by no doubt clearly exceeds any other form of intimacy. Even though the action of "watching someone sleep" is considered by most to be invasive and for the most part down right eerie- the inquisitive observance is not in vain, it is the simple desire to discover more about the human mind and that person's own psychological world. The fact that all human beings are capable of dreams is mystifying particularly because it is something every human being shares with each other. What makes it so perplexing though is the reality that on a regular basis the average person is unfortunately incapable of remembering their own night time hallucinations. Therefore we can not help but staring at a sleeping person and wonder to ourselves, what are they dreaming about? Will they remember their dream? Will i remember mine?
Another aspect goes a little beyond curiosity and reaches the realm of uncomplicated (yet very) fascination. In most cases it is as if we are searching to discover more about the certain personally of the being who is innocently dozing in wonderland. It is almost impossible to argue that the dreams we dream do not reflect on our own personality. We look at the peaceful snoozer not in vanity but in compulsion. You are forced to gaze at that person because in lamest terms, we immensely or slightly care about that person. It almost resembles ease-dropping on a secret of their life. Since, as stated before, dreams reflect on the personality of their owner, if we only knew what they were dreaming, would we not also be learning more about them? What would be so reassuring though is the fact we would be stumbling upon the truth. In dreams we can not hide from who we are. By watching someone's dreams on a large projection on a wall we would be watching the true essence of the person at hand. No false pretenses, or fronts.
But then the question arises, is a human being capable of lying to themselves in a dream?
Let's simplify this matter.
Say a woman dreams about being in love with a man in real life she despises. Is her subconsquense speaking to her, or is her mind just manipulating factors of her every day life with desired emotions? She sees the man everyday and therefore he lives in a conner of her brain. She is lonely and wishes beyond anything else to finally find the one. Her mind adds the two factors together to create this illusion. She is not actually or will ever be in love with this man. Is that not then a lie?
Unless perhaps persons share the ability to predict the future through dreams. Though no one has a complete understanding of the human mind and probably never will, the concept does appear to be a stretch.
People do naturally silly things in their sleep.
